Professional Learning
Professional Learning and Professional Development are not created equal. The word “learning” suggests growth over time, an opportunity for transformation through a continued support and refinement of one’s practice. Development is typically a one-stop shop, a drive by without follow up to support how the learning connects with your needs. At Refine, we believe that professional learning is a partnership. The sharing of a collective brilliance, rooted in research and authenticity.
Through highly engaging, research-based professional learning, Refine sees professional learning as an opportunity to support teachers, coaches, and administrators with the tools and strategies they need to enhance instructional practice and align early learning to 21st Century skills.

Instructional Coaching
“Even the BEST of the BEST have coaches!”
At Refine, we believe that classroom practice should be a personal journey, driven by the professional educator in the classroom. Too many times, educators hear what needs to be corrected vs what is working well. Through a strength-based approach, teachers have the opportunity to Refine their instruction by setting intentional goals, and working shoulder to shoulder with their dedicated instructional coach.
Coaching isn’t a one size fits all approach at Refine. Utilizing multiple models, we work with each educator to Refine their practice in a way that makes sense to them.
- Observation and Reflection
- Modeling and Demonstrating best practice
- Whisper Coaching
- Vicarious Learning
- Curriculum Planning and Development
Instructional coaching should be a continuous approach. Through monthly or bi-monthly coaching visits, weekly goal-aligned resources, and an instructional coach at your fingertips, teachers feel a sphere of support through their personal coaching journey.

“Let’s learn from one another!”
The most precious resource we have is people. However, many early learning educators feel like they work in isolation, not having the opportunity to collaborate, learn and share with colleagues. It is through collective efficacy, and specifically the use of vicarious learning, that agencies have the opportunity to support early educators in developing and enriching their instructional practice. Vicarious learning is a shared practice of observation and reflection that teachers participate in together with their Refine instructional coach. Through this process teachers have the opportunity to observe other early educators in action, seeing their identified and chosen goal through a best practice lens.
